Air Canada cancels flights to Tokyo

TORONTO – Air Canada says it has cancelled flights to Tokyo after a deadly earthquake and tsunami swept through Japan.

A spokesman for the airline says Narita International Airport in Tokyo is closed, so flights from Toronto and Vancouver are cancelled.

The airline normally runs one flight a day from each city.

The spokesman said the Montreal-based airline is monitoring the situation before it decides whether to cancel further flights in the coming days.

Air Canada says it has no reports of injuries to any of its staff in Japan.
